Don Grundy

PRESIDENT

Don began his career in construction with Arpi’s Industries Calgary, in 1970. From an entry level position in the shop to an indentured apprenticeship as a tin smith to the completion as Red Seal Journeyman and subsequent superintendent status, Don proved loyalty and value by remaining with Arpi’s through it all.

In 1979, Don was offered a project which required him to relocate north to Edmonton Alberta. He came to represent Arpi’s, and run the first phase of West Edmonton Mall and cement the stature and what was to be the legacy of Arpi’s Industries in Edmonton. Don continued to manage successful projects in Edmonton and area, and by 1990 was the acting Vice President of the company.

In 2007, Don took yet another step up the ladder and closed on the deal to purchase the Edmonton operations of Arpi’s Industries. With two partners involved, Don became an owner and President/Founder of Arpi’s North Inc. and has maintained that role ever since.

A leader in the industry through vision, dedication, loyalty and values, Don has participated in industry changing projects, throughout his tenure. Such iconic projects completed in his career include Bankers Hall (Calgary), West Edmonton Mall-Phases 1 through 4 (Edmonton), Canada Place (Edmonton), Alberta Pacific Mill – ALPAC (Boyle), Alberta Museum of Art (Edmonton), Rogers Place (Edmonton), and the Stantec Tower (Edmonton).

Don’s industry commitments have also included board positions and directorships with the Construction Labour Relations of Alberta, the Local Advisory Committee of the Alberta Apprenticeship Board, The Local 8 Sheet Metal Pension Trust, along with SMACNA affiliation.

Don is a well respected leader in the industry and the community and continues to be a driving force in Arpi’s North successes.
