Everything You Need to Know About HVAC Systems

Arpi’s North specializes in Cannabis Growth Facilities, TAGG Cutting and Coring, Building Information Modelling, Metal Fabrication, and Construction. Each of these specialties contributes to our ability to provide custom HVAC solutions for residential, industrial, and commercial projects. We have participated in the development and construction of many iconic landmarks that have shaped Edmonton. These projects continue to afford us the privilege of creating new buildings of importance and leading the mechanical contracting industry in Edmonton.

When it comes to developing and installing custom HVAC solutions, there are a few important things you should know:

What is HVAC?

HVAC is an acronym for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning. Together these carefully designed elements contribute to and control the movement of air amongst indoor and outdoor spaces. Not only does this system ensure proper ventilation for your residential or commercial building, but it also controls the cooling and heating of a building. HVAC systems are the unsung heroes that keep you breathing clean air, keep you warm on a winter day, and provide a much-needed reprieve on a hot summer day.

How does HVAC work?

There are a variety of unique components to all effective HVAC systems:

  • Air Intake: In all buildings, there is natural ventilation that occurs through windows and doors, but there must also be a mechanical ventilation solution. The ventilation system works to ensure that an appropriate amount of oxygen is entering the building while also removing carbon dioxide and eliminating moisture from the building.
  • Air Intake Handling Unit: Once fresh air has been captured from outside the building, it is pushed through to an air intake handling system which will filter the outside air. By filtering this outside air, the handling unit will eliminate allergens and dust, ensuring fresh, clean air is circulating inside the building.
  • Heating and Cooling System: Once the outside air has been appropriately filtered, the HVAC system will be either cooled or heated and circulated through the building. A series of air ducts will push the temperature-controlled air into specific spaces.

Designing, building, and installing effective HVAC systems is an essential element in all residential, commercial, and industrial builds. Arpi’s North has expertise in developing state-of-the-art HVAC systems for every space.
